Impressions of Italy #1

Here's the first tiny quilt (11x14-ish) in what I hope is a series:

I struggled for a while with the windows. I added some, I took them off again. It needs windows, but if I put too many on the big buildings, I start to need them on the tiny buildings, and one of those buildings is less than an inch high and all of an eighth of an inch wide. Ack. Anyway, I think the minimal window look is the best I'm going to do for now. It's off to a group show of the CMAA in the cafe at the Lebanon Co-op (Apr 17-May 27).

Hanover.

So I needed some black mat board. Off I go to Beans. I get a parking space at 9:46 and put enough change into the meter for 25 minutes (in case Bean's doesn't open until 10). Walk to Beans. Doesn't open until 10. Wander around for a bit, read the real estate ads, feel hopeful about selling my house this summer, buy crullers at Lou's, think "why don't I come to Hanover more often?"

It's a few minutes past ten. Back to Beans. Still not open. So I walk over to Duke's, which is always my second choice. The Hanover Duke's is just a gallery and frame shop now, and they've moved all their art supplies to ... Lebanon. Walk back to Beans, they're open. Buy black mat board. Get back to the car at 10:15 (four minutes past when the meter expires, for those of you keeping track).

Parking ticket.

Comment Spam

Wow, we must be a real blog now, since we're getting comment spam. I'm going through and deleting them and I've made some changes. You no longer have to be a blogger member to post, but you do have to fill in the silly letters. We'll see how that works.

They're not pretty, but...

Woo hoo. Sawing is not too bad. I managed to cut out 2 1-inch squares of copper without even breaking a blade :) I also managed to get my flex shaft up and running so I can drill and such. Granted, I currently have one drill bit and no other accessories, but it's a start. So here is my first, humble metal creation... A pair of earrings made of that thin copper roof sheeting you get a home depot, 4 homemade sterling jump rings, and sterling ear hooks. Not pretty, but not a failure!

Belts galore

Some of the belts from the recent show have now appeared on the website. "But wait," you say, "isn't this a jewelry blog? And a jewelry website?" Hmmm...it's called procrastination. My two partners are happily making jewelry, and some of it is sitting in my house. But I haven't done any photography in many days and, well, I don't feel like it. So here is a belt:

Website updated - bags.

New purses/totes/etc that didn't sell at the Saturday show are up on the website. Check 'em out: low, low prices while they last!

The show on Sat was pretty small but the people who did show up were ready to plunk down cash. We also did some networking with other sellers and I think we've solved one of our display quandries. Also there was pie, so a good time was had by all.
